Abstract: A degree in Management, which at one point in time was a dream course for many, is in the doldrums. In fact, the entire Indian higher education industry is experiencing a downtrend. Once a lucrative ‘business’, it is now at the mercy of Government—bailout packages. Initial signs of recession that appeared in 2010, were explained as ‘cyclic phenomenon’, and hence, not many were bothered. However, four years since, the situation is gradually worsening. The best one to reason with-over this state of affairs-is the student fraternity. This research aims to discover the major reasons for the adverse attitude of Indian students towards management education. The study was conducted upon a sample of Management Graduates picked up from institutions based in four metropolitan cities. The objective was to find out their take on the declining state of management education in India. The study is based on both primary and secondary data, collected after an extensive survey of the sample units, and data from various bodies, mainly the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
